As per notification of the Higher Education Department No. 758-Edn (CS)/10M-95/14 dated 3rd July 2018, The admission process in colleges should be completed online without any physical contact/presence of prospective students. Online admission process should be done based on merit and prospective students should not be called for counselling or verification of documents during the process of admission. Admission will be strictly on the basis of merit and availability of seats. The admission process will be on till 6th July 2018 as per the schedule published by the University of Calcutta. Names published in the list will have to generate their respective challans and submit their fees in SBI by 6th July 2018.

ADMISSION SCHEDULE

Admission from same merit list published on 20.06.18 will take place on 25.6.2018 against the vacancies given below. Candidates are requested to report to the college premises within 11:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon with all relevant documents. Nobody will be allowed to enter college after 12:00 noon. Admission will start from 12:05 p.m. sharp.

No seats are available in EDCG, PLSG, & HISG. So admission in B.A. General Group 2 has stopped. Admission in B.A. / B. Sc. General in other Groups is allowed.


 The students are requested to bring the following documents at the time of admission.

  • Two copies of printed application form signed by the candidate and guardian(i.e  Parent, Husband, Local Guardian)

The students are requested to bring the following documents in original with attested photocopies.

  • Proof of date of Birth; (Admit card of School leaving Examination)
  • Marksheet of the +2 Exam
  • Two passport size and one stamp size photograph of the candidate.
  • SC/ST/OBC/PWD certificate, if applicable

  • Students whose names are in the merit list are eligible to reporting for admission.
  • Inclusion of names in the merit list does not guarantee admission.
  • Admission will be strictly on the basis of merit list and on the availability of seats.
  • Reporting on the day of admission does not guarantee actual Admission.
  • Reporting is followed by verification of forms.
  • Any direct payment of admission fee without verification by the college stands cancelled. College will not refund fees in such cases.
  • Admission to all subjects depends strictly on the availability of seats.
  • The candidate herself has to report for admission. No representative will be entertained at the time of reporting for admission.
  • Reporting for Admission to B.A. / B.Sc / B.Com ( Hons and Gen) and BBA (Hons) starts on 22.06.2018 at 10.30 A.M. and ends at   11.15A.M. sharp the same day.
  • Students who fail to report by 11.15 A.M. will not be considered for admission.
  • Admission starts from 11.20 A.M. on 22.06.2018.
  • Admission will be strictly on the basis of the merit list.
  • Admission will be according to the availability of seats in different subjects.
  • Admission to any course is provisional and subject to the approval of the University of Calcutta.
  • Number of reserved seats for SC / ST / OBC – A / OBC –B (non creamy layer) is shown against each Honours subject and also for General Courses (refer to College website)
  • Guardians are not allowed inside the college building.

 

All candidates paying the fees to SBI either online or offline for admission are requested to submit the college part of the Bank challan positively to college by 4:30 P.M. today.

 

There has been a change in the B.A./B.Sc. Syllabus and in  the structure of Admission and Examination rules in all colleges affiliated to University of Calcutta for the session 2018-19. The University of Calcutta has introduced Semester-wise Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) from the session 2018-19 in the B.A. / B.Sc courses. For the B.Com courses Semester-wise CBCS had already been introduced from the session 2017-18.

Kindly read the guidelines given below with utmost care since it contains detailed information on essential conditions which will ensure the smooth completion of the formalities related to admission to B.A. / B.Sc./ B.Com courses of Deshbandhu College for Girls under the Semester-wise Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).

  • Refer to the Calcutta University Notification No.CSR/3/18 dt.)07.05.2018 and CSR 4/18,dt.07/05/2018 containing new Admission and Examination Regulations for Semester-wise three year (Six Semesters) B.A./B.Sc/ B.Mus (Honours and General) )  Courses of studies under CBCS.   • B.A./B.Sc./B.Com.(Major) respectively and CSR/26/2017 dated 26.5.2017 and    CSR/64/2017 dated  14.9.2017 for B.Com. (Honours/General) Programme of Studies.
  • Outline of the subjects to be chosen by a student to be pursued in a course of 6 Semesters over 3 years at the time of admission. Following is the list of subject options in the 1st Semester over the first six months.
  • As per the rules of the University of Calcutta, in the 1st Semester of the Choice Based Credit System a student pursuing B.A./B.Sc.( Honours) or B.A./B.Sc. General has the following programmes:
  • In case of B.A. /B. Sc  Honours Programme, a student shall have to study 2 papers of Core Courses (CC) of the Honours subject she intends to study + 1 paper of any of the 2 Generic Elective ( GE) subjects she intends to study + 1 Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course 1 (AECC  1): Communicative English/ MIL.
  • In case of B. Sc  General  Programme, a student shall have to study 3 papers as Core Course (CC) from 3 subjects she intends to study + 1 Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course 1 (AECC  1): Communicative English/ MIL.
  • In case of B.A.  General  Programme, a student shall have to study 2 papers as Core Course (CC) from 2 subjects she intends to study + 1 Generic Elective (GE) Course from a subject other than the subjects she chose in the core course +1 Ability Enhancement Compulsory Course (AECC ) 1: Communicative English/ MIL.

 

Deshbandhu College for Girls is offering Honours Programme in 8 subjects in the B.A./B.Sc. courses. A student pursuing Honours Programme in any one of these 8 subjects has to choose 2 Generic Elective Subjects (GE) from groups clubbed together in a row under their chosen honours Box.

  • Please type out your full name. Select your HS stream, Caste from the provided popup.
  • Please just key in a few characters of the Subject names and they will appear as popup. Select any from them. You can NOT manually write any subject name. Do key in the ENVS marks in the designated space only. Enter your Full marks, Pass Marks and Your Marks in the blocks provided. The % of marks and Best 4% will be automatically calculated and displayed.
  • Click on the preview your marks button and ensure marks entered are accurate. If not please correct them.
  • Select your preferred courses by selecting the Stream and Honours /General type. Please ensure that you select the courses you are eligible for. Clarify your eligibility criteria displayed in the admission portal.
  • The courses available will appear as subject combinations from which they can be chosen.
    In the personal details section select your gender, Marital status, co-curricular activities, date of birth from a given calendar, religion, ration card category, whether a first generation learner, qualifying examination name, year of passing, board at 10+2 level, 10+2 school name, 10+2 roll no, residential address, permanent address, nearest railway station, email address, phone number, mobile number, nationality, state name, blood group, father’s name, mother’s name, guardian’s name, annual income, guardian’s occupation and guardian’s phone number.
  • Upload your photograph within 100 KB. Select the mandatory preview button and ensure all data provided by you is accurate. Now click on the Confirm button to submit the form and go back to edit button to modify.
  • AS SOON AS YOUR FORM IS SUBMITTED A FORM NUMBER WILL BE GENERATED.
  • PLEASE NOTE IT DOWN FOR ALL FURTHER PROCESSES.
  • Now you can view /print your application form and triplicate copies of your challan.
  • PRINT YOUR APPLICATION FORM IN DUPLICATE.
  • Payment of the processing fee has to be made at the designated bank branches along with the challan.

UNTIL YOU PAY THE REQUISITE PROCESSING FEE YOUR FORM WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED VALID FOR THE MERIT LIST.

Important Note

 

1. Admission is strictly online.

2. Admission is made strictly on the basis of merit list and availability of seats in respective subjects and courses.

3. For applying to more than one Hons./General subject combinations by any student, separate forms are to be filled up. No lateral movement from one course/subject to another is allowed on the basis of one single application.

4. Inclusion of name in the merit list does not guarantee admission. Candidates whose names are in the merit list must come to the College for verification of their forms by the College authority on stipulated date and time before paying the fees for admission.

5. Candidates who passed 10+2 examination or its equivalent Examination in 2012 and onwards are eligible to seek admission to the 1st year of the courses of studies offered by the College provided he/she has also passed English having full marks not being less than 100.

 

Mandatory Disclosure for online form submission & the entire admission process
  • This Online Admission Portal is meant for the serious applicants who are willing to seek their berth at Deshbandhu College for Girls for B.A. / B.Sc./ B.Com. Part – I Hons/ General and BBA for the ensuing session
  • This application is meant for provisional admission subject to approval of University of Calcutta
  • It is assumed that the information furnished in this application is true to the best of the knowledge of the applicant.  In case of any false/ misleading information, the application will be summarily rejected.
  • It is also assumed that the applicant is applying voluntarily on her own discretion without being influenced by any third party. The College Authority will never entertain any claim regarding this.
  • Applicants willing to seek admission must commit to follow the rules and regulations of the college and the University of Calcutta, which may be amended in due course of time
  • Application does not confirm to Admission
  • In case of Admission, the decision of the Admission Committee/ College Authority will be deemed to be final and no queries will be entertained.
  • The college authority reserves the rights of admission/ rejection of any applicant/ candidate irrespective of the caste/ creed/ gender/ financial & social status without assigning any reason whatsoever.
  • In case of fraudulent activities/ misconduct observed even at a later stage, the candidate/ student may be debarred from the college at the sole discretion of the College Authority

Eligibility

For BBA - Honours
 
Minimum 60% marks in the aggregate in any stream at the previous qualifying Examination
 
55% marks in the aggregate in any stream for S.C. / S. T./ candidates
 
English is must and should have passed in Mathematics or Statistics or BE and BM
 
For Honours Subjects
 
Minimum 50% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying Examination
OR
Minimum 55% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying Examination
OR
Minimum 50% marks in the aggregate when the candidate has not studied the subject
 
40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject for S.C. / S. T./ candidates in all respects
 

 

For General Subjects
 
Candidates applying for General Course must have passed in each subject & minimum qualifying numbers in Higher Secondary/ Equivalent Examination. In case th candidate has not studied the subject, pass mark in the said subject will not be considered provided he qualifies for the other criteria.

The following documents are to be produced along with the filled in forms at the time of Counseling &Admission:

  • Original Admit Card of Madhyamik Pariksha or its equivalent examination for verification.
  • Original Mark sheet of Higher Secondary or its equivalent examination for verification.
  • Original Caste / Relevant Certificate from Competent Authority, if any, for verification.
  • Two Passport Size photographs of the Candidate
